Author Guidelines

International Journal of Health Systems and Policy (IJHSP)

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, policy, and practice in health systems and health policy. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript.

1. Article Types Accepted

IJHSP accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles (5,000–8,000 words)

  • Policy Papers (4,000–6,000 words)

  • Systematic Reviews / Meta-Analyses (6,000–10,000 words)

  • Case Studies and Country Profiles (3,000–5,000 words)

  • Perspective / Commentary (1,500–3,000 words)

  • Editorials (by invitation only)

Word count includes references, tables, and figures.

2. Manuscript Formatting

  • Use APA 7th edition citation style.

  • Submit the manuscript in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.

  • Use Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified alignment.

  • Include page numbers on all pages.

  • Manuscript must be anonymized (no author names/institutional affiliations in the main file).

  • Structure for Original Research:

    • Title

    • Abstract (max 250 words, with 3–5 keywords)

    • Introduction

    • Methods

    • Results and Discussion

    • Conclusion

    • References

3. Abstract and Keywords

  • Provide an abstract of maximum 250 words in English.

  • Include 3–5 keywords that best represent the content of your article.

4. Language

  • Manuscripts must be written in English.

  • Authors are responsible for the language quality. Non-native speakers are encouraged to have their manuscript professionally edited.

5. Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables must be numbered and titled.

  • Place each figure/table within the text, not at the end.

  • Provide sources or notes below if needed.

6. Plagiarism and Originality

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • All submissions will be screened for plagiarism using reliable detection software.

  • Plagiarism above 20% will be automatically rejected.

  • IJHSP uses a double-blind peer review system.

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.

  • The editorial team will communicate the decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.

9. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • No submission fee

  • No article processing charge (APC) – IJHSP is fully open access and free of charge for both authors and readers.

10. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain the copyright.

  • Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

  • Readers are free to share and adapt with proper attribution.
