Publication Ethics
The Journal of Law, Policy and Global Development (JLPGD) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures to prevent any form of publication malpractice. The journal adheres to the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards described below.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
-
Originality and Plagiarism:
Authors must ensure that their submissions are original works. Any use of the work and/or words of others must be appropriately cited. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. -
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication:
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. -
Acknowledgment of Sources:
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. -
Authorship of the Paper:
Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study should be listed as authors. -
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:
All authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. -
Reporting Standards:
Authors of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
-
Fair Play:
Manuscripts are evaluated solely based on their academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the scope of the journal, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. -
Confidentiality:
The editor and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher. -
Publication Decisions:
The editor is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published, guided by the journal’s editorial board policies and legal requirements. -
Handling Misconduct:
Editors shall take appropriate measures when ethical complaints are reported concerning a submitted or published manuscript.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality:
Reviewers must treat all received manuscripts as confidential documents. -
Objectivity:
Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear arguments supporting the reviewer’s recommendations. -
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest:
Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions connected to the paper. -
Acknowledgment of Sources:
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and inform the editor of any significant similarity or overlap with other published works.
4. Publisher’s Responsibilities
-
Ethical Oversight:
The publisher (Pondok Pesantren As-Salafiyah As-Safi'iyyah) ensures that editorial decisions are made without commercial influence and guarantees editorial independence. -
Integrity of the Academic Record:
In cases of proven misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication), the journal will publish corrections, retractions, or clarifications as necessary.
Dealing with Allegations of Misconduct
JLPGD will take allegations of misconduct seriously and investigate complaints in accordance with COPE procedures. Where appropriate, articles may be retracted or corrected, and further actions may be taken against authors, reviewers, or editors found in violation.
