Retraction and Correction

Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (JPKM) is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. This policy follows publication-ethics principles promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Correction

JPKM may publish a correction when a published article contains an error that affects the accuracy or clarity of the article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.

Corrections may include errors in:

  • author names or affiliations;
  • text, tables, or figures;
  • data presentation;
  • references; or
  • other information that requires correction.

The correction will be clearly linked to the original article.

2. Retraction

JPKM may retract an article when serious problems make its findings or publication record unreliable.

Reasons for retraction may include:

  • fabricated or falsified data;
  • fabricated community service results;
  • plagiarism;
  • serious ethical violations;
  • duplicate publication;
  • major errors affecting the conclusions;
  • manipulated figures or photographs;
  • fraudulent authorship; or
  • other serious publication misconduct.

A retraction will not automatically imply misconduct by all authors.

3. Retraction Procedure

When a serious concern is identified, JPKM may investigate the matter and request an explanation or supporting evidence from the authors.

Authors will normally be given an opportunity to respond. The journal may also contact the authors' institution or other relevant parties when necessary.

The final decision will be based on the available evidence and applicable publication-ethics principles.

4. Retraction Notice

A retracted article will remain part of the scholarly record but will be clearly marked “RETRACTED.”

JPKM will publish a retraction notice stating the article details, DOI, date of retraction, and reason for the retraction. The notice will remain permanently linked to the original article.

5. Expression of Concern

If serious concerns exist but there is not yet sufficient evidence for correction or retraction, JPKM may publish an Expression of Concern while further investigation is conducted.

6. Author Request

Authors may request a correction or retraction by contacting the editorial office and providing the article details, explanation of the issue, and relevant supporting evidence.

The editorial team will evaluate the request independently and determine the appropriate action.

7. Post-Publication Changes

JPKM will not silently change published articles when the change affects the scholarly record. Corrections, retractions, and other significant notices will be clearly documented and linked to the original publication.

8. Policy Statement

JPKM will handle corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern transparently, fairly, and based on evidence, with the aim of protecting the integrity of the scholarly record and following relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
