Correction and Retraction

MUNIF: International Journal of Religion Moderation is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the academic record. When errors or ethical issues are discovered in published articles, the journal takes appropriate measures to correct or retract affected publications in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Corrections (Errata and Corrigenda)

Corrections are published when minor errors are identified in a published article that do not affect the overall results, interpretations, or conclusions of the work.

  • Errata
Issued when the error is introduced by the journal’s production team during typesetting, editing, or formatting. Examples include incorrect author affiliations, typographical mistakes, or missing figures.

  • Corrigenda
Issued when the error originates from the author(s) but does not alter the scientific integrity of the research. Examples include inaccurate citations, minor data inconsistencies, or mislabeling in tables or figures.

Procedure for Corrections

  • The author(s) or readers must notify the editorial office of the identified error.

  • The editorial team evaluates the request and determines whether an erratum or corrigendum is appropriate.

  • Corrections are published in the next available issue and are linked to the original article for transparency.

2. Retractions

A retraction is issued when a published article is found to contain serious issues that undermine the validity, reliability, or ethical integrity of the research. Retractions may occur due to:

  • Evidence of plagiarism or duplicate publication.

  • Fabrication or falsification of data or research results.

  • Unethical research practices, including violations of human or animal rights.

  • Conflicts of interest that significantly compromise the findings.

  • Authorship disputes or improper inclusion/exclusion of contributors.

Procedure for Retractions

  • Retractions can be initiated by the author(s), the editorial board, or the publisher.

  • The editorial team conducts an investigation following COPE guidelines.

  • If retraction is warranted, a Retraction Notice is published in the next available issue and:

    • Clearly states the reason for retraction.

    • Identifies whether the retraction was author-initiated or editor-initiated.

    • Links directly to the original article.

  • The original article remains accessible in the archive but is clearly marked as "Retracted".

3. Article Removal

In rare and exceptional cases, an article may be completely removed from the journal’s website and archives, including its metadata, if:

  • Publication would lead to serious legal consequences (e.g., defamation, copyright infringement).

  • The article contains content that poses risks to personal privacy, national security, or public safety.

  • A court order or institutional request mandates removal.

In such cases, the title and author information remain in the journal archive with a statement:

"This article has been removed due to legal or ethical considerations."

4. Expressions of Concern

If the editorial team has inconclusive evidence of potential issues but the matter requires further investigation, an Expression of Concern may be published. This serves as a temporary notification until the investigation is completed.

5. Adherence to COPE Guidelines

This correction and retraction policy follows the recommendations of the
Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure transparency, accountability, and research integrity.

MUNIF strives to maintain the highest publication standards and ensures that any corrections, retractions, or removals are conducted openly and ethically.
