Retraction and Correction
1. Policy Statement
JMPI: Jurnal Manajemen, Pendidikan dan Pemikiran Islam is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes the importance of correcting errors and addressing violations of publication ethics in a timely, fair, and transparent manner. This policy applies to articles published in JMPI and is intended to ensure that any necessary corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions are handled responsibly.
2. Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article that affects the accuracy, clarity, or interpretation of the work but does not invalidate its overall findings or conclusions. Corrections may address factual errors, author information, affiliations, figures, tables, references, or other relevant content. Requests for corrections are evaluated by the editorial team, which determines the appropriate action based on the nature and significance of the error. Published corrections should clearly identify the affected article and explain the changes made.
3. Retraction
Retraction may be considered when a published article contains serious errors or ethical violations that undermine the reliability or integrity of the research. Grounds for retraction may include plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, substantial methodological errors, duplicate publication, unethical research practices, or other forms of serious publication misconduct. Retraction decisions are made by the editorial team following an appropriate investigation and consideration of the available evidence and responses from relevant parties.
4. Expression of Concern
An expression of concern may be issued when credible allegations regarding the reliability or integrity of a published article require further investigation, but the available evidence is insufficient for an immediate correction or retraction. The expression of concern informs readers of unresolved issues while the investigation proceeds. The journal may update its decision when additional evidence becomes available.
5. Retraction and Correction Procedures
When a potential issue is identified, the editorial team reviews the available evidence and may contact the authors, their affiliated institutions, or other relevant parties when necessary. Authors are given an appropriate opportunity to respond. Following the investigation, the journal determines whether a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction is warranted. Editorial actions are documented, and the relevant notice is linked to the original article to preserve transparency and the integrity of the scholarly record.
6. Publication and Accessibility of Notices
Correction, expression-of-concern, and retraction notices should be clearly identified, publicly accessible, and linked to the original publication whenever possible. Retracted articles may remain accessible for the purposes of scholarly transparency and record preservation, but they must be clearly marked as retracted. The reason for the editorial action should be stated in the relevant notice to help readers understand the nature of the issue.
7. Ethical Guidelines
JMPI follows recognized publication ethics principles and may refer to the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and its resources on retraction guidelines when handling publication concerns. All cases are assessed fairly, confidentially where appropriate, and without discrimination. Editorial decisions are based on evidence, the seriousness of the issue, and the need to maintain the accuracy and reliability of published research.
Through this policy, JMPI aims to uphold responsible publishing practices, protect the scholarly record, and maintain the trust of authors, reviewers, readers, and the wider academic community.
